In January, our Executive Director, Nuria, and M&E Specialist, Phoebe, traveled to Burundi to engage with the PeaceTech Classroom community and meet with key partners. During the trip, they collaborated with Simon from AJEDI‑KA to review progress in eastern DRC and plan innovative strategies for 2026, strengthening sustainability, accountability, and local ownership.
Building on these discussions, we are excited to launch two new supporting mechanisms aimed at supporting demobilized and vulnerable children. The “Give Back” goat cycle allows beneficiaries to pass on livestock to vulnerable peers, creating a sustainable ripple effect that fosters economic security and mutual support within their communities.
Complementing this, a pilot “Goat Club” model will launch in March, bringing together demobilized and vulnerable children to strengthen solidarity, accountability, and community resilience. These clubs are designed to encourage peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and shared responsibility, empowering children to actively contribute to their communities while building practical skills and social cohesion.
Through these initiatives, we aim to create sustainable, locally driven solutions that ensure children affected by conflict can safely reintegrate, thrive, and grow as agents of positive change.
